Legalize it

But, it's not enough for us to just end the War on Drugs — we need to actually start to repair the damage it has wrought on communities of color.

Beto for America

Jason, it's time to end the War on Drugs.

That's why, today, Beto announced a sweeping plan to legalize marijuana and end the war once and for all.

But, it's not enough for us to just end the War on Drugs — we need to actually start to repair the damage it has wrought on communities of color.

If you agree with Beto, stand with him by adding your name to support his sweeping new plan here.

That damage from the War on Drugs has been compounding for decades. Black and brown communities across America still face over-policing and criminalization as a result of our government's misplaced priorities

Beto believes it's our responsibility to remedy these injustices and help the people and communities who have been most impacted by that misguided war.

That's why, in addition to legalizing marijuana and ending the War on Drugs, Beto's plan will:

  • Grant clemency to those who are currently serving sentences for marijuana possession.
  • Build a model for marijuana regulation that is similar to how we regulate alcohol.
  • Create a licensing program that grants the majority of licenses to produce, distribute, or sell marijuana to minority-owned businesses and those disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs.
  • Provide "Drug War Justice Grants" to those formerly incarcerated for nonviolent marijuana offenses after their release.

If you agree with Beto that we need to end the War on Drugs and begin to repair its damage to black and brown communities, add your name now.

Of course, it will take time and it will take work for us to make up for decades of punitive War on Drugs policies. That's why Beto is starting by embracing systemic, sweeping reforms.

Together, we can begin to right these wrongs and heal the damage.

Thank you,
Team Beto
