Jason – at the end of this email, I’m going to ask you to make your very first donation to my campaign for Congress here in Texas’ 33rd District. But first, let me explain why your support today is so important. |
I need to be frank: I never planned to run for the House. |
I started this election cycle running for Texas’ U.S. Senate race, determined to build on the incredible movement we built in 2024 when we came within striking distance of defeating Ted Cruz and outran the presidential ticket by nearly 200,000 votes. |
But when I saw there were three strong Democrats in the race and the Senate primary was guaranteed to head toward a bruising, costly runoff – which would’ve weakened us in the fight to stop extreme MAGA loyalists from holding on to power for another six years – I felt a responsibility to exit that race. |
The great irony is that now, I’m running for Congress in TX-33, and I’m in a runoff myself. |
This district was racially gerrymandered by the GOP in their antidemocratic attempt to keep control of the House this November. But more than that, it’s my home. And you can bet I’ll fight like hell for it. |
The only way I can defeat my opponent in the TX-33 runoff, make it to Congress, and serve as a critical check on Trump is with your grassroots support. I don’t take a dime of corporate PAC money, so I’m truly counting on you. Will you chip in $5 today? |
