Six months ago, I made a tough decision. But that decision set me on the path I’m on today, running in the runoff election for Texas’ 33rd Congressional District, fighting for a chance to represent the community that raised me. As you probably know already, I started out running for Texas’ U.S. Senate seat. The campaign we built for that race was nothing short of extraordinary. We had the energy. We had the momentum. And while the path ahead was challenging, I was all in and ready to fight to the very end. But last December, it became clear that Texas’ Senate race was headed for a bruising, costly Democratic primary – one that would make us collectively weaker in the fight against the MAGA Republicans in control of our state right now. I thought long and hard about what that would look like and the impact it would have on Texans. I looked back on all the people I met traveling across the state: folks in union halls, churches, barbershops, and small businesses. And I paused on the honest conversations I had with those hardworking folks, the struggles they shared, and the trust they placed in me. It was those people – people like you – who made me realize that I needed to go in a different direction. That’s when I made the tough decision to step back from Texas’ U.S. Senate race and instead run to represent TX-33. Here’s the irony of it all: I ended my Senate campaign to avoid a messy Democratic primary runoff – but now I’m in a runoff of my own, here in Texas’ 33rd Congressional District. I’m ready to fight like hell to make sure the people who live here are taken care of, and the reality is, I’m the best and only Democrat in this race who can get the job done. Unlike my opponent, I’m building a grassroots movement and rejecting all corporate PAC donations – and when I was in Congress, I never traded a single stock. She’s taken hundreds of thousands in PAC money. She’s one of the top congressional stock traders in the entire country. Yes, we’re both Democrats, but the contrast between us couldn’t be clearer. If we want actual change in this country, we have to fix the system. Undo the status quo. Elect leaders who legislate based on the needs of their communities, not big corporations or their own stock portfolios. That’s exactly what I promise to do, but right as folks are starting to cast their ballots, my opponent is dishing out baseless attacks left and right in an effort to undermine the work I’ve put into this campaign and this state. You know how hard we’ve fought to build this movement into what it is today. And I hope that, with Election Day right around the corner, you’ll help me defend it. Thank you. Colin Allred
