Folks, Happy Pride Month.
Nobody should have to justify their own humanity. As long as I am Governor of Maryland, we will fight for the humanity, rights, and freedoms of every single person in our state – including our LGBTQ+ community. That's a promise we intend to keep.
While Washington works to strip away rights and demonize families, Maryland is — and will remain — a safe haven for the LGBTQ+ community. We've signed the Trans Health Equity Act. We launched the first-in-the-nation program to reduce suicides among LGBTQ+ youth. We've fought for HIV prevention and care across our state.
And we cannot and will not stop fighting.
But that fight has a cost. MAGA Republicans and Trump's allies are coming for everything we've built, including the progress we've made for LGBTQ+ Marylanders.
