An update on our fight for voting rights

No matter what Republicans throw at us, we'll continue doing the work.

Jason,

If there's one thing we can say about the Texas GOP, it's this: They're consistent.

Rather than focusing on fixing our power grid or protecting Texans from the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Abbott and the GOP-led state legislature have been singularly focused on suppressing the rights of Texans this year.

Last month, Governor Abbott signed one of the most extreme voter suppression bills in the country, SB 1, into law. Now, the Texas Senate is attempting to restrict voting even further after former President Donald Trump asked for an investigation into the 2020 election in Texas — and let's be clear: The Texas Secretary of State's Office declared the 2020 election as "safe and secure."

Jason, for months Powered by People has been doing the work day-in and day-out to fight against voter suppression and register new Texas voters. And no matter what Republicans throw at us, we'll continue doing that work. Please donate $10 or more today to help our volunteers continue fighting for our democracy on all fronts.

While Texas Republicans are trying to take away Texans' votes, Powered by People is building an inclusive democracy. Our volunteers are registering new voters and encouraging others in their communities to become Volunteer Deputy Registrars so that they can do the same.

Defeating bad actors in Texas isn't going to be easy — it will take a multi-year effort centered around community organizing and voter registration. That's why Powered by People is doing the work now, with just over a year to go until the next statewide election.

Jason, your support allows Powered by People to bring more people into our democracy so that we can build a better, more responsive government and elect leaders that truly represent the people of Texas. Will you chip in $10 or more to support our work to register new voters, fight against voter suppression, and protect our democracy?

Thank you for your support,
