The media is taking Republican Steve Garvey seriously. And we need to too, but not for the reason you might think. A Republican hasn't won a Senate election in California since 1988. We feel confident this Senate seat will go to a Democrat, and we're not going to fear-monger you into thinking otherwise just for the sake of donations.
What we do have to take seriously is the fact that Steve Garvey could knock Katie out of this race after the primary election on March 5. That's because in California's primary, the top two vote getters, regardless of party, advance to the general. Just a few percentage points will likely determine who gets first, second, and third.
We need Katie's voice in Washington because not all Democrats are the same. Katie isn't a career politician. She's never accepted a dime from corporate PACs—she doesn't want their money.
Californians deserve a warrior in the Senate. Someone who will fight against corporate corruption and for working people. That's Katie. We can't afford to lose Katie Porter's voice in Congress.
