Jason,
FIRST: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth tried to strong-arm Anthropic into opening its AI for unrestricted military use.
THEN: Anthropic's CEO, Dario Amodei, drew two clear red lines: No mass domestic surveillance of Americans. No fully autonomous AI weapons.
NOW: The Trump administration has retaliated. Donald Trump ordered federal agencies to phase out Anthropic's technology rather than respect basic guardrails.
Let's be clear about what this fight is really about.
Hegseth wants AI systems with no limits.
No limits on surveillance.
No limits on automation in war.
No limits on a $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget that supercharges a war-and-surveillance machine.
That is unacceptable.
I'm calling on Congress to act immediately:
✅ Ban Pentagon AI contractors from spying on Americans.
✅ Prohibit fully autonomous AI warfare – there must always be a human decision-maker when America goes to war.
✅ Protect AI companies that refuse to build tools for domestic repression.
✅ Reject Trump's reckless $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget and invest in healthcare, housing, childcare, and good-paying jobs at home instead.
And I'm thanking Anthropic for modeling moral responsibility when it mattered.
Will you join me?
Add your name to demand that Congress stop Hegseth's AI power grab and defend democratic guardrails.
