Last week, the Washington Post ran a piece about young people who voted for Trump in 2024. What they found was a growing sense from these voters that they had been misled and left behind. Polls are saying that 70% of Americans aged 18 to 29 disapprove of Trump's presidency.
The message is clear: they're having buyer's remorse.
Young voters who catapulted Trump back to the White House are furious about him waging an endless war in Iran, furious about the devastatingly high prices that never came down, and furious that they were so brazenly lied to.
But here's the thing. These young voters who feel betrayed by the vision they were sold don't automatically start showing up for us. They need a reason. They need bold, fearless candidates who can actually relate to what they're going through. The cost of rent, access to health care, crushing student debt. They need a vision for the future worth fighting for — and more importantly, one they can trust.
That's the work. And the window to do it is right now.
It's exactly what Leaders We Deserve was built to do. Backing and electing leaders who have the urgency and clarity to meet this moment — people like Claire Valdez in New York, Demi Palecek in Illinois, and Christian Menefee who will go to the mat for working people, and prove this movement can win anywhere.
