 | | | (1).jpg) | | Friend, it's Women's History Month, and I've been reflecting on the experiences that have brought me to where I am today. | | Back in the day, I never imagined I'd run for the U.S. Senate – let alone become just the third Jewish woman and first former synagogue president ever elected to the Senate. Long before I ever set foot in Congress, I was a cocktail waitress working hard to pay the bills and become the first in my family to graduate from college. I worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst in what has long been a male-dominated field. During that time in my life, I saw firsthand the pay discrimination and challenges that come for women in the workplace. | | But it's these experiences that have driven so much of my work in the Senate. They're why I fight so hard to inspire young girls to pursue careers in STEM and ensure women have a seat at the leadership table where decisions are made. They're why I fight so hard for paycheck fairness, for affordable child care, and for reproductive freedom. | | It's also why I have a wall in my Senate office that's filled with photos of fierce, dedicated, trailblazing women who have paved the way for me and fought for our rights throughout history. They remind me every day of what we can collectively achieve when we set our goals high – and that this fight for full equality is far from over. | | My experiences will always guide my fight to make positive change for communities in Nevada and across the country. But right now, I'm counting on the grassroots support of people like you to power this fight in the Senate. | | So please, in honor of Women's History Month, will you make a gift of $5 or more now to help Democrats take back the Senate, power our fight against hate and discrimination, and secure true equality? | | | | Thank you. | | Jacky | | | | | | |
