Immigrants are part of the fabric of this country. They are part of our families, our communities, and our history.
But since the moment Donald Trump returned to the White House, his administration has been enacting a cruel anti-immigrant agenda, complete with their own mass deportation machine.
The President has broken the law and violated the Constitution in service of his anti-immigrant agenda over and over again. And when he breaks the law, we fight back.
Right now, we're working against Trump's illegal no-bond immigration detention policy, and I want to share an update on where things stand:
→ This week, I filed an amicus brief to challenge the Trump administration's unlawful new interpretation of decades-old immigration law.
Our immigration system has long included access to bond hearings. But under Trump's policy, this right is eliminated — mandating indefinite detention for some non-citizens without the opportunity for a bond hearing, and regardless of any individual circumstances.
We're talking about many undocumented immigrants who care for dependent young children, who have family members who are U.S. citizens, who have been here for decades and have deep roots in the community, and who have no criminal history.
As enforcement has surged, denying more and more people consideration for bond has led to dangerously overcrowded detention facilities with unsafe conditions that no just system should accept.
Indefinite detention without due process is inhumane — and it violates the Constitution and decades of immigration law.
None of us can stand by while the federal government strips away human rights and undermines due process. As Attorney General, I'll keep fighting to protect our values and our neighbors.
But I can't do it alone. I'm relying on my strongest grassroots supporters like you to support my campaign when we need it most. Right now, we're working towards our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline. Will you contribute before the end of March to power my re-election campaign and this important work?
