Just a couple weeks ago, Donald Trump stood at the State of the Union and bragged that the economy is "roaring" and that our nation is "bigger, better, richer, and stronger than ever." Now, this week, after spending millions of dollars everyday on his war with Iran he has managed to not only spend more of our tax dollars but to also spike gas prices by 10%.
The idea that our economy is doing great couldn't be further from the truth. Rent is up. Health care is up. Groceries are up. Now gas is up. Paychecks are not keeping pace. And too many leaders are still acting like a good stock market headline is the same thing as a family being able to afford the basics. Most people still say the economic state of the country is poor, and people's confidence in the economy improving has dropped significantly since last year.
