Rise and grind, Texas! I like to start every morning with a workout. It clears my mind for the day, helps me focus, and gives me a bit of time to myself before Aly and the boys wake up. Today, I was thinking about something that I learned real quick playing football: Motivation gets you started. Discipline keeps you going. You’re not always going to feel motivated or inspired. But the thing that gets you through is discipline – having the mental fortitude to just say to yourself, I’m going to work my way through this today to do what I have to do and be who I want to be. The days when I felt sore or tired but kept pushing are the moments when I felt the most personal growth. There have certainly been days like that on the campaign trail, but I’m better for them. So y’all, don’t wait to get motivated. Let’s get to it. 💪 You might have noticed, but our campaign has been doing things a bit differently than others. We’re doing all the “normal” campaign things (events, phonebanks, etc.), and we’re mixing in shifts at small businesses here in North Texas – including Montoya Boxing Gym; Printed Union, a local union print shop; and dozens of restaurants. We’re meeting working folks where they are and showing support for the people who keep Texas running. An average day (following my morning workout and dropping the boys off at school!) might include… Heading over to Klyde Warren Park and meeting folks who make our community so special. And, holding a pop-up football clinic while I’m at it. Stopping by Casita, a family-owned restaurant doing what so many small businesses do every day: serving great food, creating jobs, and bringing our community together. Visiting the Valley Ranch Islamic Center and listening, learning, and standing with our neighbors who deserve to feel safe, respected, and heard. Those are just a few of the places I’ve been recently. Being in the community and actually talking with folks about the issues that affect their daily lives is what our campaign is all about. At the end of each day, I get to go home to my wonderful family – who couldn’t be more supportive throughout this journey. That includes our dog, Marley, who adds levity to the tough days and makes the good ones even more fun. Hopefully, one of the next “days in my life” will be in Congress! North Texas is sending a clear message to those in Washington: We will not be silenced, we will not be erased, and we will not back down. Republicans redrew the maps to make us disappear, but this community continues to show up anyway – because that’s who we are. Thank you for all of your support. Colin Allred
