Growing up in Dallas, life wasn’t always easy. I was raised by a single mom on a teacher’s salary who sometimes had to work another job to make ends meet. Without her sacrifice and the support of our community, I wouldn’t be where I am today. |
I went on to play in the NFL, become a civil rights lawyer, and proudly serve in the Obama administration. I went on to run for office in 2018 and unseat a 22-year GOP incumbent nobody thought I had a chance in hell to beat. I went on to run for Senate and build one of the largest grassroots movements Texas has ever seen. |
Now, I’m here before you as the Democratic nominee or Texas’ 33rd District, and I couldn’t be prouder of all that we’ve accomplished – together. |
