Friends, I hear the same thing from Californians over and over again: everything costs too much.
Your weekly trip to the grocery store, taking a few days off work, needing a new set of tires, or an unexpected visit to the emergency room — all way too expensive. Add those costs to your regular bills, and for far too many families, the California Dream gets pushed even further out of reach.
So we’re doing something about it.
This week, I’m proud to share that we launched California’s DOJ Affordability Response Team — a group of legal experts from across DOJ dedicated to investigating and going after the unlawful practices that are driving up costs. Our goal is simple: to put more money back in your pockets.
The affordability crisis didn’t happen overnight. Because these challenges are entrenched and complex, tackling the affordability crisis requires creative thinking and a willingness to attack the problem from all angles.
The good news is that we’re not starting from scratch. We’ve been tackling the affordability crisis and going after unlawful policies, practices, and scams that raise prices for years.
From consumer protection to antitrust enforcement, cracking down on price gouging and corporate fraud, pushing for fairer housing and healthcare practices, and more, our team has been going after the affordability crisis with everything we’ve got. Now, we’re able to amplify our work and our impact.
But let’s be clear: not all Americans are feeling the squeeze. While most households struggle to pay their bills, the demand for luxury yachts and private jets is actually surging as the top 1% benefits from Donald Trump’s policies, like rolling back antitrust enforcement that holds large corporations accountable and handing out tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans.
All the while, the President and his own family are profiting immensely from holding public office.
You deserve leaders who are actually concerned with the affordability crisis – not with how they can increase corporate profits and enrich their own bank accounts.
You deserve fair prices and the ability to make enough to not just meet your basic needs, but to have the experiences and joys that make life richer. That’s the California Dream.
Our California DOJ is fighting to make that dream a reality. And together, we will continue building a California that we can all afford and enjoy.
Your support makes this work possible, so I’m asking you personally: if you’re in a position to contribute, will you support my re-election campaign today with a donation of $25, or whatever amount is meaningful to you?
