Let me explain why we have to act before it’s too late.
I just announced that this summer, I will be heading to New Orleans to bolster Louisiana Democrats as they chart their path forward after the Supreme Court further gutted the Voting Rights Act.
I have spent a lot of time in the South recently, and I know the importance of our movement there. Donald Trump and Republicans know it, too.
That is why they are trying to rig the game in their favor. Since the Supreme Court burst open the floodgates with their decision, Republicans have rushed to redraw districts — particularly those in the South — before voting for the midterms begins in just a few months.
So we must fight fire with fire, and we must fight now — because time is running out before November. That is what this moment requires of all of us.
For my part, I am working with leaders across the country affected by redistricting efforts. I am doing everything I can to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in November, but I cannot do this important work alone.
It is going to take all of us working together to face these fights head on. So I am asking:
