No person in America should be discriminated against or face violence for who they are, how they express themselves, or what their gender identity or sexual orientation is.
But for LGBTQ+ people in many states—especially for queer and trans kids—it's their daily reality, and it's only getting worse. This year alone, Republicans have introduced 400 bills to restrict the rights of transgender and non-binary Americans, and dozens have been passed into law.
This isn't just a red-state problem. Right here in Huntington Beach, the Board of Supervisors just voted to ban the Pride flag from being flown on county property.
In the face of a record-shattering wave of dangerous and discriminatory anti-LGBTQ+ state legislation, the Human Rights Campaign declared a state of emergency for LGBTQ+ Americans for the first time in its history.
Katie will always stand with the LGBTQ+ community in California and across the country. In Congress, she was proud to vote YES on the Equality Act, to prevent discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. While this bill passed the House in 2021, it stalled in the Senate—thanks to the filibuster.
Katie is running for US Senate, where she'll continue fighting for legislation so that LGBTQ+ Americans are protected. Your support will help make that possible.
