But according to reports released this year by Open Secrets—a nonprofit that tracks campaign finance and data—federal lobbying spending reached $4.1 billion in 2022, and business interests spent $3.5 billion in political contributions during the same cycle.
Billionaire CEOs and the most powerful corporations write these hefty checks to political candidates, on both sides, for a reason: to gain outsized power in our political system.
For Katie, corporate PAC and federal lobbyist contributions are a hard no. Instead, we rely on grassroots contributions to power our campaign—our average contribution is around $30, and we're proud of that.
