Since I announced our push to pass a Constitutional Amendment on guns, a few folks have asked "why are you doing this?"

Here's why this is important:

States and Congress can pass the strongest gun laws in the world, but when federal courts or the Supreme Court overturn them, then what?

And if you think you're safe from that in a Blue State? Then think again...

Here in California, a federal judge overturned our assault weapons ban and compared the weapon to a "Swiss Army knife." It's insane.

Look at what the Supreme Court did in their most recent major decision on guns. They fundamentally changed the way the 2nd Amendment is interpreted when they overturned a 100-year-old law that required people to have "proper cause" to obtain a concealed carry permit to carry a firearm anywhere they want. This has repercussions in all 50 states.

No gun law is safe — not in the states, not if passed in Congress — until the 28th Amendment is enshrined in the Constitution.

So that is what we must do. And it will start in California.

I will use every dollar donated today to help us pass a Constitutional Amendment on guns in the United States and also to take the fight directly to Republican governors on this issue.
