New: a recent poll shows overwhelming bipartisan support for overturning California's referendum process.
Remember all those political ads funded by corporations that you saw on TV last fall? It's a classic move by corporate special interests to overturn state laws they don't like. They submit a confusing or misleading ballot measure, get it on the ballot, and then spend millions persuading (and sometimes straight up misleading) voters.
There's a new state bill, AB 421, which would increase transparency in our state's referendum process. Good-government groups and unions are in support of this measure to help curb the influence of corporate interests.
