Another report of a Justice taking undisclosed trips.
A new ProPublica report shows that another conservative Supreme Court Justice has taken luxury trips on behalf of a Republican mega-donor. This time, it's Justice Alito, who went on an undisclosed trip to Alaska with hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer via private jet (the plane would have cost him $100,000 each way, if he had paid for it). In the years following this vacation, Singer's hedge fund came before the Supreme Court at least ten times.
First, the billionaire-funded yacht trips of Justice Thomas and now this. My students at UC Irvine had an easier time following the university's ethics code. Americans know this isn't fair or right, and it's why so many are losing faith in our democracy.
Congress must hold the Supreme Court accountable. We should expand the court, enforce term limits, work to get politics out of our judicial system, and implement a judicial code of ethics—it's appalling that we don't already have one!
I'm running for Senate because those in power need to be held accountable to the people they're supposed to serve. I'm fighting to clean up corruption through real, substantive legislation. Sign on to show your support for reforming the Supreme Court.
