Jason -
This March, Californians will vote on an important ballot initiative — a once-in-a-generation reform to help people with serious mental illness and substance abuse problems get out of the shadows and out of encampments, and into the housing and treatment facilities they need to get better.
This is the most exciting piece of work I have ever been a part of, and that is no BS.
It touches more people, more directly, in more ways, and on more days than anything I've done in office. And I want you to know about it.
Because not only can it work in California, but it can be a model for the country.
The plan will save people's lives. It will give peace of mind to their families. It will make our communities safer.
There's not a human being reading this message that can't lay claim to this issue.
Some of us more intimately than others.
No state has ever done anything at the level I am proposing, and it's important to me that you know about it:
People want to see people off the streets and they want to know that when their loved one is in crisis that they are going to get the quality care they deserve.
This is solvable.
And in California, we will solve it.

🌤️ Hi. Please don't click away just yet. 🏡
Our mental health ballot initiative will come to a vote early next year and we need your support to get it passed.
If everyone reading this donated just $20 today, we'd have the resources to pass Prop 1 and get people who are struggling with acute mental illness the help they need. If that sounds worth $20, please make a donation to Gavin Newsom's ballot measure committee today.
