We've now seen firsthand that extremists won't stop their anti-abortion attacks at state lines.
I've issued a bulletin to California law enforcement — and I want you to know this, too:
California law prohibits cooperation with out-of-state investigations or prosecutions of abortions that are lawful here in our state.
We will not allow anti-abortion extremists from outside our state to reach in and undermine the protections guaranteed here.
Whether these attacks come from the Trump administration or from another state, the answer is the same: California will not comply.
Here's what that looks like in practice:
→ California agencies cannot arrest, investigate, extradite, or share information about reproductive care that is lawful in this state — even if another state demands it.
→ Doctors and patients will not face surveillance, arrest, or prosecution in California for lawful care.
Californians have already made our position clear on this issue. We've protested, we've elected champions of reproductive freedom, and we've voted overwhelmingly to enshrine these rights in our state Constitution.
We will continue to ensure individuals can safely access reproductive health care because that is the will of the people.
As Attorney General, I'll do everything I can to enforce the law and ensure people can access care. But the fact remains that it is under attack, so I need to know you're with me on this.
Sign on if you agree: No state gets to criminalize health care that's legal here.
