I’ve been a lot of things in life, but I’ve always been a fighter. After playing football at Baylor, I decided to fulfill a dream of mine and give the NFL a shot. I was ready to compete at the highest level – and I wanted to help my mom buy the house she had been renting for 20 years. But then, I went undrafted. I had a chance to go to training camp and played well. But I still got cut. I didn’t give up. As a boy raised by a single mom on a teacher’s salary, I never had the option to give up. “Keep going” was my mantra – personified by my mom, who was the hardest worker I’ll ever know. So I came back to Dallas and took a job at the YMCA. I picked up towels. I swept the floors. When my shift was done, I stayed late to put in the work in the weight room. Once I got another chance, I made the team. And yeah, I bought my mom that house. The thing is, you shouldn’t have to have a son in the NFL to own a home. That’s why I’m running for Congress here in TX-33 – to fight for working families like my own and ensure every person has the chance to thrive. We have an incredible opportunity to create massive change in this district and throughout the country, but it’s going to take bold, principled leadership – and overwhelming grassroots support. Listen, I’ve taken some hits before. I’ve got a plate and two screws in my neck to prove it. But falling short of our final end-of-month fundraising goal before the primary election on Tuesday would hurt more than any hit I took in the NFL. Thank you, Colin Paid for by Allred for Texas |

I’ve Always Been a Fighter
