 | | | | Friend, | | I am the third Jewish woman and the first former synagogue president ever elected to the United States Senate. My faith is deeply tied to who I am, what I fight for, and my role as a lawmaker. | | It's part of why I care about the issues that I do, and it means that I bring with me the same struggles that all Jews face. Most prominently, the threat and impact of discrimination is part of my story – as it is for so many Americans. | | My faith and experiences will always guide my fight to make positive change for communities in Nevada and across the country. But right now, I'm coming up $5,617 short ahead of my end-of-month fundraising deadline to power this fight in the Senate. | | Will you please make a gift of $5 or more now to help me keep up the fight in the Senate against hate and discrimination and secure progress for all of us? | | | | When I was just a few years old, I was playing in a swimming pool with my mom when a lifeguard on duty told us we were "dirty" because we were Jewish. We had to leave the pool immediately, and my mom never forgot that interaction. | | Nearly every Jewish American has had a moment in their lives when they experience or witness antisemitism like that firsthand, and the problem is especially serious today. | | Swastika graffiti. Physical assaults and threats. Firebombings. MULTIPLE deadly mass shootings. These attacks on Jews are not isolated incidents. They represent a regression toward one of civilization's darkest chapters. | | Addressing this kind of violent antisemitism is an issue I've been working on since before I came to Congress and throughout my time in the House and Senate. That is why: | - I founded the Senate's first ever Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism – which now includes more than half the Senate as members.
| - I successfully pushed the Biden administration to create the first-ever National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, which took a whole-of-government approach to tackling rising hate.
| - I introduced bipartisan legislation to address antisemitism on college campuses across the country.
| - I led the effort in Congress to increase the power of the State Department's Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism by raising the position to the rank of Ambassador.
| - I introduced and successfully passed into law reauthorization of the Never Again Education Act, which helps educate our communities about the Holocaust.
| - I led the charge to stop the Trump administration from weakening Coast Guard standards for hate symbols like swastikas.
| - I'm currently calling on Republicans to reject the nomination of Jeremy Carl to the State Department because of his hateful, antisemitic views.
| | The fight against antisemitism is part of my wider efforts to make our country a place where nobody is targeted because of who they are, as I was as a little girl. That's why I'm also continuing to speak out against Trump's hateful anti-immigrant crackdown that has specifically targeted minors and left both migrants and American citizens dead. | | Your support is crucial to powering this work – and I'm urgently counting on that support right now ahead of my critical end-of-month fundraising deadline. Please, make a generous gift of $5 or more now to help me continue fighting to make our country safer and more tolerant for all of us. | | If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: | | Thank you, friend.
