I'm 25, and for 21 years of my life we've been at war in the Middle East. Now, it looks like Donald Trump is trying to drag us back into another forever war.
Young Americans want health care, jobs, and housing — not to die for Donald Trump.
That's why we need young leaders, some of whom could actually be drafted, to stand up to the war machine and speak out loudly against Trump's illegal actions.
Leaders like Nida Allam, who doesn't want to raise her children in a country that has money for bombs, but not for childcare.
Leaders like Patrick Roath, who got involved in politics by marching against the Iraq war.
Imagine if we had these young leaders in Congress? Imagine if we had more principled fighters who would proudly stand up to Trump instead of writing him a strongly worded letter.
I'll have more to say soon about what this moment will require of us. We are going to keep standing up, speaking out, and supporting the next generation of progressive leaders who will always stand up to fascists and oppose the forever wars that make all of us less safe.
