I won't sugarcoat this, Jason:
Everything depends on this race.
If Nida Allam wins her primary in North Carolina's 4th District, everything from here on out becomes much, much easier.
Here's why.
Nida is our first Congressional incumbent challenger this year. She is taking on incumbent Valerie Foushee, a representative who in her first race received millions from AIPAC. If Nida wins, she'll become the first domino to fall, making every other race easier to win.
The larger our win record, the more we can prove that we can keep winning. With real money and organizing power behind our candidates, we pose a real challenge.
When complacent Democrats see this, some of them just drop out. And that saves us money that we can spend on other candidates. That's why Nida's race is so important, to open the door for our other challengers.
Let me tell you a bit about Nida.
In 2015, Nida's life changed forever when her friends Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu-Salha, and Razan Abu-Salha were murdered in their Chapel Hill home in an anti-Muslim hate crime.
She didn't grow up dreaming of getting into politics. But after this injustice, she just wanted a safer North Carolina. She threw herself into organizing, becoming a leading advocate for affordable housing, Medicare for All, a fair living wage, quality education, a Green New Deal, abortion rights, and labor rights.
In 2020, she became the first Muslim woman to hold a public office — Durham County Board of Commissioners — in North Carolina. In 2023, she made history again as the youngest Board Chair in the state. In this position, she raised the minimum wage for county employees and secured property tax relief for low-income residents.
Nida is a leader we need in Congress. She puts workers first. And doesn't answer to AIPAC.
Jason, we need all hands on deck to win this.
If you are able, can you split $5 to Nida and Leaders We Deserve today?
Thank you,
David Hogg
P.S. If you can't make a donation today, you can still show your support. Sign up to volunteer for Nida's campaign to help her win this race.
