In just one week, Texas and North Carolina voters will head to the polls for the primaries — and it will be the most important day in Leaders We Deserve's history.
There's not a single other organization out there investing more to elect young progressive candidates than we are right now. We built this movement to prove that young progressives have what it takes to lead with integrity, govern effectively, and win tough races — and that we're not waiting our turn to do it.
Next week, we get to show that through two critical races.
In North Carolina's 4th District, Nida Allam is challenging a corporate PAC-backed incumbent who's forgotten who she represents. Nida will bring her fearless leadership to fight for a government that puts working people first, and deliver for North Carolinians on lowering health care costs, raising wages and standing up for workers' rights.
And then there's Christian Menefee in Texas' 18th Congressional District, a proven fighter with a track record of showing up for his community and holding power to account. He was just sworn in to Congress through a special election a month ago, and will have to defend his seat next week.
These are leaders who understand what's at stake for our democracy, and are ready to put up a fight. They're not interested in climbing the ladder, they're interested in changing our party and shifting power back into the hands of working people.
This moment is huge, and we can't afford to waste it. We can sweep these critical races, and do so without a dime of corporate PAC money, but I need your help to get us there.
I'm about to be back on the road with our candidates, meeting volunteers, knocking doors, and doing everything possible to make sure we win on March 3rd. And I'll keep you posted from the ground because you're a part of this team too, Jason.
