As a former teacher and professor, I love breaking down how your contributions make a difference. And when you donate this week, your dollars do even more than help us run ads, hire organizers, and put on campaign events. Let me explain:
- Every three months, campaigns like ours are required to report how much money they have raised to the Federal Election Commission. This quarter ends on September 30, so we're in the midst of a big push to report a strong number. You'll hear 9/30 referred to as our "end-of-quarter deadline" throughout this week.
- The amount we raise will be made public, and an impressive number is a show of strength for our campaign, which can deter super PACs from attacking us. And, our grassroots strength proves we don't need corporate money to compete.
- I'm one of just *eleven* of 435 Members of the House who reject federal lobbyist money, and I'm the only person in this race who has never taken corporate PAC checks. That means these goals are entirely dependent on supporters like you.
Our average donation this month is $23.73—can you chip in $23.73 today to help us report a strong quarterly fundraising haul and continue reaching voters all across California?
Thanks so much for considering,
Katie Porter
