Jason,
We got some disturbing news this week: Ted Cruz called Steve King -- Cruz's former Presidential Campaign Co-Chair -- to double down on his support of the Congressman. This news comes as bipartisan leaders across the country are united in condemning King's divisive and hateful rhetoric.
Even the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, Rep. Steve Stivers, took extraordinary steps to publicly condemn King, saying "Congressman Steve King's recent comments, actions, and retweets are completely inappropriate. We must stand up against white supremacy and hate in all forms, and I strongly condemn this behavior."
I'll be blunt: it should be easy to condemn Steve King. But for some reason, Cruz can't bring himself to do it.
Not only is Cruz refusing to join members of both parties in condemning his former presidential co-chair's actions but he's doubling down on his support.
Texas deserves better. We deserve a senator who will fight for and represent everyone in our state instead of fueling divisions at a time when we need to come together.
Thanks for standing on the right side of history.
Talk soon,
Chris Evans
Beto for Texas
